Women’s Rugby World Cup Comes to Balbriggan

Balbriggan RFC hosted the Women’s Rugby World Cup trophy as part of it’s nationwide tour in the build-up to Ireland hosting the Women’s Rugby World Cup this Summer. To mark the occasion, the club held a ‘Women In Sport’ themed event, that included tag rugby for girls. We were delighted to have Ireland International Marie Louise ‘Maz’ Reilly in attendance for the evening. Girls from various sports including O’Dwyer’s GAA football team, Bracken Boxing Club, Balbriggan FC and Leinster Cricket joined ladies and girls rugby players from Balbriggan RFC. A team of girls also travelled from Ashbourne RFC. Those in attendance included Tess Maritz of Leinster Cricket, Niamh Fay winner of several Irish boxing titles and member of the Ireland boxing team that will compete this month in the European Championships along with Dublin champion boxers Molly Bennett, Kacie Caldwell and Dympna Whelan. On behalf of Balbriggan RFC we would like to thank Alex Denby for bringing the WRWC to Balbriggan, Maz Reilly and everyone else that made the special effort to come to Balbriggan RFC
