CHAMPIONS! – Balbriggan’s U14’s won the Leinster Plate final today. It was a great match against a very good Athy side. Patrick Ryan scored the opening try, followed by a try from Aitzol King, which was followed by another try from Patrick Ryan. 2 of these 3 tries were converted by Aitzol, giving Balbriggan a half-time lead of 19 v 7. Athy struck back in the second half with a try (19 v 12), but Sean Garland was driven over the line by the pack, to secure a fourth try for Balbriggan to give a 24 v 12 lead. Athy kept fighting back and scored a further try and penalty. Final score 24 v 20 to Balbriggan. This was an amazing performance and achievement by Balbriggan. Congratulations to Victor, Andrew, Tony, Paddy, Graeme and Tommy and all the players. This victory caps a fine 90th anniversary season for the club.
