Women’s Rugby – Clontarf v Balbriggan
The Women’s team headed to Castle Avenue on Sunday for Round 8 of their Leinster league. Though they were missing a few girls they welcomed back experienced campaigners Sandra McAleer, Anne O’Brien and Leanne Whyte. The game started with Clontarf on the front foot and Balbriggan seemed to be still in the dressing room as they were playing 2nd fiddle for the first 15 mins. Tarf missed an easy 3 point kick in front of the posts and whatever Olivia Malone said to the girls in the huddle it worked. Continue reading →
North East Santa Blitz
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! The annual North East Santa Blitz takes place this Sunday morning, December 3rd, at Balbriggan RFC starting at 10am. It’s always a great family day.
We’ve got breakfast sorted with Java the Hut and Froggy’s Crepes on-site all morning.
U7’s/U8’s and U9’s from around the North East will play a few friendly games, and get the chance to meet Santa and his helpers too!
Each year the Santa Blitz has a designated charity and this year is no different. This years charity is the Peter McVerry Trust, a charity that works tirelessly to help the homeless. There will be a bucket collection on the day, all support is very much appreciated.
With 40 teams arriving at the club, the car park will be very busy. Car pooling or travelling by bus would be a huge help to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Hope everyone enjoys the day, and don’t forget your Santa hat!
Sports Capital Grant Funding
Balbriggan RFC is delighted to announce that we will receive funding of €130,000 under the Sports Capital Grants Scheme, in the current round of funding. Balbriggan is the youngest town in Ireland. It is important that there are sporting facilities available for a young and growing population. Without the sports capital grant, community based clubs like ours would not be in a position to develop their facilities. This grant will be used to further develop our grounds by developing an additional pitch for the club, and for the use of the wider community.
We would like to thank local politicians Cllr Tony Murphy, TD Alan Farrell and Senator James Reilly who worked on our behalf.
It’s great news for our club, our town and the greater community.
