New Jerseys for U16’s
Balbriggan’s U16’s played their first home game of the season yesterday against a very strong and skillful Navan side. Balbriggan were togged out in their new jerseys, which have been very kindly sponsored by Eamonn Mulligan Building Contractor. Many thanks to Eamonn and Catherine Mulligan for sponsoring the jerseys. We are very grateful for your continued support. Eamonn and daugher Rachel, who plays on the Balbriggan Women’s team, were on hand to present the jerseys to the team.
The match itself was a very exciting encounter. Navan took a deserved lead at half time, with four tries and one conversion (22 pts) to Balbriggan’s two converted tries (14 pts). Balbriggan faced a daunting uphill task in the second half as Navan were both strong and stylish and looked to have the upper hand in this encounter. However, Victor’s young charges are nothing if not resillient and they showed their determination by staging an heroic comeback in the second half. They clinched victory in the final minutes of the match with a penalty kick, though soon after, just before the final whistle, Navan came close to snatching victory with a penalty of their own. Final score 24 v 22 to Balbriggan.
