This year we also introduced the Mini Coach of the Year Award and the Youth Coach of the Year Award.
Coaches play an incredibly important role in youth sport, giving countless hours of their time each week to help young players learn, develop, and enjoy the game. From organising training sessions and preparing for matches to encouraging players and creating positive environments, the effort and commitment involved often goes far beyond what many people see.
At Balbriggan RFC, we wanted to shine a light on both the importance of coaches and the huge amount of time and energy they dedicate to supporting young players throughout the season. Their work helps shape not only better athletes, but also more confident, resilient, and team-oriented young people.

Our President’s Award – Malachy ‘Mal’ Malone
The President’s Award recognises an individual who has consistently gone above and beyond what is asked of them in service to the club. It is awarded in recognition of years of dedication, hard work, and commitment to developing Balbriggan RFC both on and off the pitch.
Through their involvement across Minis, Youths, and Adult rugby, they have played a vital role in supporting players and coaches at every level of the club.
Just as importantly, they have helped foster a culture of inclusion, positivity, and togetherness, building strong relationships throughout the wider club community. Their contribution, leadership, and unwavering support embody the very best values of Balbriggan RFC.
‘Mal’ encapsulates all of those traits, having worked tirelessly for years to ensure the club continued to head in the right direction.
