The Bulldog – Newsletter

Well done to the U12 on their performance at the Aviva today but against a heavier Portarlington side they got their first experience of Midland Beef.  They were making a great comeback and looked just about to score when the ref ended the match.  What a thrill to get to play at the Aviva on the same pitch as all their heroes and see Leinster get a well deserved win against Munster.

We did note that Club President did try to wave to everyone in the stadium.   The Bulldog is not sure who was more excited for the day, Dave or the kids.  We hope all the parents and friends who came along to support had a good day put at Leinster Rugby.

Caroline McFadden was named the Leinster PRO for September.   An award well deserved for all the great work she has done in promoting the Club from her weekly photography, looking after the Web and Facebook sites and of course all her work on the Book.   Remember there are still some books available and they would make great Christmas presents for your friends abroad.

The Race Night will take place on Friday 14th of October (NEXT FRIDAY) in the Bracken Court Hotel in the Martello Suite

The award winning comedian Eric Lalor is attending on the night and will perform a comedy act.

There will be 10 races on the night – €20 per horse.  If you haven’t bought your horse yet it can now be done on line by going to the Club web site and clicking on the Race Night picture.

Hopefully everyone will sell as many horses as they can to friends relations and everyone else.

The sponsorship of a race which will cost €150 – get your name in headlights!

Clothes Collection

If you have something to give please do so this week as we are trying to wrap this up.

Next up will be the IRFU raffle.  Tickets fir this will be distributed shortly.  Every ticket sold is profit for the Club so everyone please make an effort.  There are great prizes.  If you don’t get tickets and need some please contact Sean Malone or any Committee member.

Just a reminder, we will hopefully be starting the Club house build by early next year at the latest.  While we have some grant money we do need to look at raising some funds ourselves.  We are considering a year long fundraiser where we ask families to buy a brick – the cost will be c€25 a month.  As we are registered as a sports club for every taxpayer who buys a ticket we are able to claim a further €80 back in tax.  We need to look to raise a significant sum to maintain our finances in good shape.

This is just to give people very advance notice and we will give you further detail nearer the year end.

If anyone is interested in going to the away internationals would they please send an email to the Hon Sec, Robert Cashell no later than Wed 19th Oct.

The dates of the games are:

Sat 4 Feb              Scotland                14.25

Sat 11 Feb             Italy                        15.30

Fri 10 Mar            Wales                     20.00

We get a very limited of tickets for the away games so an order may not guarantee a ticket.  We don’t get an option on tickets either so cannot give an indication of price.

The IXV have two important fixtures coming up against New Ross and Wexford on the 16th and 23d at home, 3pm kick off.   They need everyone’s support.  There are a variety of mini and youth matches every Sunday morning.

Just a reminder to those who have not yet paid their Annual Subscription that it must be paid by the end of the month.   Subs can now be paid on line through the web site.   We would as k that for those who did not pay through the web site if they would please sign up through the web site and note that they have paid by cheque.  We are trying to get everyone signed up on line as that will make future communication easier.
